- Its my understanding from past discussions of this very article, that this
- issue is (so far, at least) non-existent. It seems that it might be the first
- urban legend of the Information Age. It has come up several times before on

- --THERE IS MORE GOING ON THAN OUR SENSES PERCEIVE--
-
- Our view of the world is primarily made up of what
- we have perceived through our five senses. What we
- personally know of the world we have either seen, touched,
- tasted, smelled or heard.
-
- Unfortunately, our senses are limited, therefore our view
- of the world is limited. This is not a problem unless we
- start believing that what we perceive is all there is to be
- perceived. IT IS NOT!

- Hello Jerry & thanks for the replay of the message. Please tell
- Elizabeth that I will contact Ft. Smith Chamber of Commerce to see
- what (if anything) gives in the park.
-
- To this day, I am confounded by what happened with my ZmailH 1.14
- routines. They worked splendidly until about 2 weeks ago. I had
- some very useful, custom NODE and MAP statements that all worked
- fine. Then it started tossing every message into Bad Messages.
- I get my feed from 9/0, where nothing was changed. It continued to
- work with Fido, but 95% of my traffic is ParaNet, so I had to bail
- out of Zmail in the interest of keeping the echos echoing.
-
- I have just completed the migration to Imail 1.10 and am
- now experiencing no problems whatever. In fact, Imail managed to
- recover many, many bad messages and posted them correctly. It's an
- excellent program, extremely zone-smart, and it sets up with menus
- that are almost foolproof (I am living proof of the foolproofness).
-
- So far, so good...
-
- Best,
- Clark

-
- Does anyone know anything about someone named Malcolm Puddy? He was a
- British scientist who filed patents for something he called a 'stardrive.'
- The government terminated his patents and he later committed suicide. This
- was all just last year, but I only heard about it last week.
-
- The patents were titled 'Stardrive Type 1A' and "Stardrive Type 1B" and
- were registered in London on 1 October 1990 and 23 October 1990
- respectively. One of the patent numbers was 9021280. The patents were
- terminated on 21 November 1990. I've been told that this means that the
- patents aren't even available to the public, and that it quite often means
- that the Ministry Of Defence is interested in them.
-
- That, unfortunately, is all I've heard, and all the person who told me has
- heard (despite the fact that he lives in England.) The implication was
- that Puddy was the latest in the series of mysterious deaths in England,
- but I can't remember if the company he worked for was mentioned (or if he
- worked for a company at all.) I have no idea what was meant by
- 'stardrive,' or what the circumstances of his death were.

- Subject: Resonant Coil Implications?

- next few messages.)

- +
- +I am not well-versed in physics higher than high-school levels. Can
- +someone tell me exactly what can happen within the distorted space-time
- +that this Resonant Coil produces? What are the implications? I suppose
- +this ISN'T an anti-gravity device? Is it a pathway to ... folding space?
-
- Let me start by saying that my physics isn't much better than yours -- but
- then, some of this technology isn't accepted by current physics anyway!
- Also, I haven't built anything like this.
-
- OK, now, the way I understand it, although you could probably produce an
- antigravity field with this coil, everything I've heard seems to indicate
- that such a coil is supposed to be able to modify the fundamental
- characteristics of matter itself. The power supply connected *between* the
- two coils, with a strong dielectric separating them, seems to suggest the
- Biefeld-Brown effect, which appears to be a unidirectional gravitational
- force. But you can do that without coils. It's the fact that there's also
- a magnetic field involved, not just an electric one, that suggests to me
- that the coil does far more than generate gravity.
-
- +Of course, it would help if someone(s) actually built it, and reported
- +on it.
-
- Well, it would cost a lot of money, and use a lot of power, and as Clark
- said, there are rumors that it's dangerous. Even if it didn't do anything
- bizarre, it would probably cause problems.
-
- Also, if anyone is thinking about building one, I've heard that the plans
- for the power supplies are questionable. I haven't analyzed them myself.
- But get somebody who knows what they're doing to look at them. (Don't show
- them the rest of the file though!)
-
- +What about the anti-gravity device mentioned in the KRILL (eek) docs?
- +Any substance to that claim?
-
- I've heard it mentioned outside the Krill paper, but again I've never been
- fortunate enough to see anything like it in operation.
-
- I haven't looked at it for a while, but the Searle device seems to resemble
- an N-Machine. The N-Machine isn't an antigravity device, it's a
- free-energy device. (In fact, the way I understand it, it's 'just' a
- Faraday homopolar generator with a higher-than-100% efficiency.) But the
- basic concept seems similar, and the Searle device is obviously generating
- a lot of free energy. I don't know why it levitates -- whether it's just
- an electrostatic or electromagnetic effect, or whether it's doing something
- 'strange.'

- Re: THE WORLD OF TED SERIOS (*Second* Edition), by Jule Eisenbud, M.
- D., (C) 1989, published by McFarland & Co., Inc, Box 611,
- Jefferson, NC 28640.
-
- + I loved the rest of your message, but could you encapsulate for us
- + just how Eisenbud overcomes the 'serios' charge <groan!> that
- + Serios used a 'gizmo' to create the "psychic photos"? It was my
- + understanding that whenever Serios was persuaded (usually with
- + great difficulty) to give up the gizmo (a cylinder in which it was
- + alleged he secreted small photographic slides), that he was
- + consistently unable to 'perform'.
-
- Jim, you really have to read the book. The 'gizmo' (usually a small,
- hollow cardboard tube) was evidently a kind of psychological crutch;
- in *all* the years of research no one *ever* caught Serios with any
- kind of device that could remotely explain the phenomena -- results
- that were documented over and over and over by staff of the U. of CO
- Medical School and others. In the end there was not a grain of
- evidence for fraud, and many hundreds of photographs as evidence
- of Serios' 'talents.' One of the key evidential factors was the
- *distortions* of space and time in many of the photos --
- 'dream-like' or "imagination-like" distortions and seamless
- composite images that positively could not have been faked by any
- mechanical means under the circusmtances. Also, many photos were
- made with the cameras at quite some distance from Serios, and in the
- hands of the investigators. Some of the pictures appeared as if
- taken from 'impossible' angles; from places where the cameras had
- never been positioned. There's more, too. *Much* more. Including a
- lot of pictures not previously published.
-
- In the book, Eisenbud spends considerable time dealing with the
- questions of belief/disbelief, scientific integrity, and attacks by
- the popular press (notably, Popular Photography magazine) and of
- course our old friend James Randi. Except for Eisenbud's annoying
- tendency to indulge in encyclopedic, run-on sentences, the book is a
- *very* good read.
-
- If I could recommend only one book to our kneejerk skeptic friends,
- this one would be it by a country mile.
-
- ***** (Five stars. Highly Recommended.)

- There have been several requests for research done into the areas
- of the paranormal/psychic phenomena. I forgot that I know of an
- excellent book on the subject.

- (This address is old so I don't know if it still works.)
-
- She is a highly-respected neuro-psychiatrist who did research into
- psychiatric treatments. She was to head one of the preeminent
- research institutes in the nation, if not the world, when a friend
- gave her a book about Edgar Cayce, 'Edgar Cayce, Mystery Man of
- Miracles. She was impressed/confused by Edgar Cayce's ability to do
- things such as remote viewing because she knew the
- brain very well (she thought) and could not find a mechanism whereby
- a human could do such a thing.
-
- This set her off on a personal study of psychic phenomena. She found
- many subjects (people) which she referred to as 'sensitives' who could do
- remote viewing and other 'impossible' things. She found doctors who could
- see a patient's aura and determine what was wrong before any conventional
- diagnosis was necessary. In order to not be labeled eccentric or worse,
- the doctors would do the required tests that would prove what they
- already knew/felt. Other interesting examples were of people who had
- special talents but did not know it. One was a woman who, when you would
- describe a place to her such as the Great Wall, would get an image of
- the place which would match perfectly the real appearance of the location.
- She thought that everyone could do that so didn't think anything of this
- rare ability.
-
- Many other studies were done. This woman gave up an important position
- within her field to fund these studies with her own money and stopped
- working so she had no source of outside income. The book is an objective
- account of her work.
